bid
1) The price at which a buyer is willing to close a deal. If the seller has made an offer that the buyer considers too high, the buyer may make a bid at a lower price (or on more advantageous terms). Having received a bid, the seller may accept it, withdraw, or make a counteroffer.
2) The price or yield at which a buyer indicates that he or she is willing to buy a financial obligation. See bid price
3) An approach by one company to buy the share capital of another. See takeover bid
